Dr. Martorell has 14 years of exper­i­ence in the field of der­ma­to­lo­gic­al health (Valen­cian Insti­tute of Onco­logy, Valen­cia, Wake Forest Uni­ver­sity Baptist Med­ic­al Cen­ter, North Car­o­lina, Man­ises Hos­pit­al, Valencia).
Dr Martorell is Coordin­at­or of the Span­ish Hidrad­en­it­is Sup­pur­ativa Taskforce,  mem­ber of the Span­ish Group of Psor­isas­is,  European Academy of Der­ma­to­logy, Span­ish Academy of Der­ma­to­logy, mem­ber of the sci­entif­ic com­mit­tee in the European Hidrad­en­it­is Sup­pur­ativa Found­a­tion and co-founder of the Dermus Ima­ging taskforce.
He is Asso­ci­ate pro­fess­or of Der­ma­to­logy in the Cath­ol­ic Uni­ver­sity of Medi­cine (Valen­cia, Spain, 2016-Ongo­ing), and is author of 352 nation­al and inter­na­tion­al lec­tures, 221 ISI pub­lic­a­tions (181, as first author), 22 book chapters and has par­ti­cip­ated as edit­or of 11 books. He also foun­ded and coordin­ates the Man­ises Hospital´s Der­ma­to­logy Invest­ig­a­tion Unit, adhered to the HULAFE, with 9 mul­ti­centric pro­jects (3 of them cur­rently ongo­ing), 24 Phase II/​III/​IV Clin­ic­al Assays (20 of them, as main invest­ig­at­or, 11 cur­rently ongo­ing) focused on psori­as­is, Hidrad­en­it­is sup­pur­ativa, Urticaria, Atop­ic Dermatit­is and Vitiligo.
In 2010 he estab­lished an IMID (Immun­o­medi­ated Inflam­mat­ory Skin Dis­eases) Unit focused on Hidrad­en­it­is Sup­pur­ativa, Psori­as­is, Atop­ic Dermatit­is and oth­er related autoin­flam­mat­ory diseases/​Cutaneous dis­eases asso­ci­ated with sys­tem­ic patho­lo­gies. Cur­rently the unit devel­op peri­od­ic onsite train­ing courses for European and Non European med­ic­al doc­tors to improve their skills and devel­op monthly webinars for this pur­pose (medi­an: onsite, 5; online 8 per year).
In terms of tech­no­lo­gic­al R+D skills, He has developed a course in mana­geri­al skills (IESE Bar­celona 2010) as well as a Tech-Com course organ­ized by IESE as part of the ACTIVVATE grant  obtained in 2018 with the pro­ject “Scan­face”.
In 2019 he received a SME I grant from the European Com­mi­s­ion focused on the devel­op­ment of Arti­fi­cial Intel­li­gence solu­tions for the skin and health­care (www​.ski​ana​.com). He is also lead­ing new stud­ies focused on the applic­a­tion of Ima­ging tech­no­lo­gies in Hidrad­en­it­is Suppurativa.
