Prof. MUDr. Spyridon Gkalpakiotis, PhD, MBA
graduated from the 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. He graduated in 2005. After graduation, he joined the Dermatovenerology Clinic of the 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University and the University Hospital in Královské Vinohrady, where he has been working since 2013 as a chief physician. In 2010 he defended his PhD degree „Evaluation of the success of adjuvant melanoma therapy by using RT-PCR in real time“. In December 2018, he was appointed Associate Professor of Dermatovenerology at the UK and in November 2022 he was appointed as a Professor. He teaches general medicine students at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine and is a tutor for postgraduate students in the biomedical sciences programme, he is also the Vice-Chairman of the Academic Senate of the 3rd FL UK. He regularly publishes in national and international journals. He has 64 publications in pubmed and his H‑index is 11. He is a speaker at conferences in the Czech Republic, but also at international conferences such as EADV. In 2010, he received the gold award for the best poster describing the results of his thesis on Circulating Melanoma Cells at the 22nd World Congress of Dermatology in Seoul, Korea. Currently he specializes in psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and biological therapy. He is a member of the Czech Society of Dermatovenerology, the American academy of dermatology and the European academy of Dermatovenereology. He has participated in more than 30 phase I‑IV clinical trials.
