Prof. MUDr. Spyridon Gkalpakiotis, PhD, MBA

gradu­ated from the 3^rd Med­ic­al Fac­ulty of Charles Uni­ver­sity in Prague. He gradu­ated in 2005. After gradu­ation, he joined the Dermatoven­er­o­logy Clin­ic of the 3^rd Med­ic­al Fac­ulty of Charles Uni­ver­sity and the Uni­ver­sity Hos­pit­al in Královské Vinohrady, where he has been work­ing since 2013 as a chief phys­i­cian. In 2010 he defen­ded his PhD degree „Eval­u­ation of the suc­cess of adjuvant melan­oma ther­apy by using RT-PCR in real time“. In Decem­ber 2018, he was appoin­ted Asso­ci­ate Pro­fess­or of Dermatoven­er­o­logy at the UK and in Novem­ber 2022 he was appoin­ted as a Pro­fess­or. He teaches gen­er­al medi­cine stu­dents at the 3^rd Fac­ulty of Medi­cine and is a tutor for post­gradu­ate stu­dents in the bio­med­ic­al sci­ences pro­gramme, he is also the Vice-Chair­man of the Aca­dem­ic Sen­ate of the 3^rd FL UK. He reg­u­larly pub­lishes in nation­al and inter­na­tion­al journ­als. He has 64 pub­lic­a­tions in pubmed and his H‑index is 11. He is a speak­er at con­fer­ences in the Czech Repub­lic, but also at inter­na­tion­al con­fer­ences such as EADV. In 2010, he received the gold award for the best poster describ­ing the res­ults of his thes­is on Cir­cu­lat­ing Melan­oma Cells at the 22^nd World Con­gress of Der­ma­to­logy in Seoul, Korea. Cur­rently he spe­cial­izes in psori­as­is, atop­ic dermatit­is and bio­lo­gic­al ther­apy. He is a mem­ber of the Czech Soci­ety of Dermatoven­er­o­logy, the Amer­ic­an academy of der­ma­to­logy and the European academy of Dermatove­nere­ology. He has par­ti­cip­ated in more than 30 phase I‑IV clin­ic­al trials.
